Height & Weight: 180 cm & 72 kg / 70.8 in & 158.7 lb
Appearance: Quinn has unevenly cut slightly wavy dark brown hair that gets wavier when it's wet. He changes his hairstyle sometimes, but usually he just goes for side-swept bangs. His hair has a silky texture and smells like tangerines because of the conditioner he uses. His eyes are also dark brown, but when the light hits them at the right angle, they turn more caramel. He has sharp almond-shaped eyes, which sometimes (rarely) make him look intimidating, with long dark eyelashes. His nose, more on the big side, has a slightly curved bridge, and the root of his nose is set high between his eyes. His eyebrows are set low and at an angle, making him look excited or determined (or sometimes even upset) when he's just standing casually. He has a wide smile, and when he smiles very sincerely and happily, he gets dimples.

Quinn doesn't like to be tied down to anything, so he avoids serious relationships. However, flirting is as important as oxygen for him. He flirts with any living being capable of intelligent speech. It's how he communicates and relieves stress.
He picked the Astrology Club because not only is he really interested in astrology, he can use it to pick up girls. ( and boys. )

However, he doesn't go further than blatant flirting, innuendos and platonic kisses ( on the hand, cheek, forehead, etc. ). Despite whatever he may say when he's joking around, he believes close physical relations are reserved for those who actually consider a future with each other, and since he doesn't do that for anyone at the moment, then he won't go too far with anyone.

He's also very determined and enjoys the spotlight. If someone ignores him, he will see to it that they don't. He doesn't want to be hated, though, so his goal is positive attention, although he tries to look like he doesn't care what kind of attention he gets as long as he gets it.

Despite his seeming flighty nature, he can be relied on once you become friends with him. He'll steer clear of your lover and use his charms in your favor when needed. And becoming friends with him isn't hard. All you need is to be honest with him and accept him as he is and he'll never abandon you.

Quinn has a pretty good sense of delicacy. He can be blunt when he wants to, but he prefers serving things in a pleasant manner. He's also surprisingly wise. He's good at listening and giving advice to those who want it. If only he took his own advice.


       

Bio:

Quinn is the fifth son in his family ( hence his name, which means "fifth" ). He's half-Japanese, half-English. His father, Saburo (the Pacific Swift), escaped from his family in Japan and fell in love with his mother, Reagan, in Great Britain.

Quinn inherited his flirtatious nature from his mother (the Common Swift). His four older brothers all took after his dad by being serious and dedicated, or so he thinks. He doesn't know that all of them got into trouble when they were his age, so he sees them as some kind of unreachable paragons and feels like an outsider in his own family. Because he's set such high standards for himself, he ends up beating himself up about not reaching them and forgets to notice his own accomplishments as well as

When Quinn was 12, he began to think he wasn't really loved became gloomy and unpleasant to be around. Other kids his age stayed away from him and he stayed away from them. He ended up not making any friends at all. Some of the more popular kids eventually started bullying him - taking his stuff, ruining his stuff, making fun of his stuff, etc. At the age of 14, he decided it would be time to change his image. It didn't work. Try as he might, he was always "that depressing kid", no matter how much he tried to look happy. That only lead to more pent-up anger and anxiety - but this time he tried to hide it. Even still, he was bullied. It slowly stopped when he started fighting back. Although he came home beat up every day, he kept a smile on his face, even if he didn't feel like it.

During his rebellious streak, he tried stealing his closest-in-age brother's girlfriend as a petty payback for something or other. ( He also got some piercings and put together an elaborate plan for running away from home, which he never went through with. ) His father accidentally put the idea of St. Pigeonations, a Japanese boarding school, into his mother's head - and off he went, shipped to a private institute as "punishment".

However, he's decided that this is his chance to turn over a new leaf and be who he wants to be, not who others think he should be. No pressure from his family, no pressure from his classmates. This time he has decided he will be himself and be happy with it.

Mother - Reagan Tsuji

(55) : His favorite parent. He wants to please her the most, but she has very high standards. Because of his inferiority complex, Quinn thinks his mother is disappointed in him, although that's not true and she loves him just as much as his brothers, if not more because of their similar "hobby". She's the one who sent him to St. Pigeonations. She thought it'd be good for his discipline, but of course he misunderstood it in a negative way.

Father - Saburo Tsuji

(54) : The parent he takes for granted. Saburo recognizes Quinn's mother in him, and loves him even more for that. He's very soft on Quinn and forgives him for most things easily. He accidentally put the idea of sending Quinn to St. Pigeonations in Reagan's head. Quinn actually takes after his father with his easygoing personality.

Brother #1 - Angus "Ace" Tsuji

(32) : Ace is the oldest of the brothers. Because Ace lives with his pregnant wife, Quinn doesn't see him that often anymore. However, he's talked about at home a lot, so Quinn resents him for being the perfect son.

Brother #2 - Kenji "Ken" Tsuji

(28) : Quinn is closest to Kenji. Because Kenji was once the "smaller" and then the "middle child" and felt less spectacular than both Angus and Colin, he understands best Quinn's pain.

Brother #3 - Colin Tsuji

(25) : Colin's the one who picks on Quinn the most. Unknown to Quinn, it's just because Colin is a huge tsundere who is incapable of showing his feelings in a normal way and he just finds Quinn adorable. Everyone but Quinn understands this, since the same happened back when Shiro was born.

Brother #4 - Shiro "Ro" Tsuji

(19) : Shiro is the one whose girlfriend Quinn tried to steal. Shiro has always been soft on Quinn ( he's the little brother he always wanted! ), but when Quinn tried to steal his girlfriend during Q's ugly period of inner conflict and turmoil, their relationship was damaged. It's not that Shiro's mad about losing his girlfriend ( they broke up, but not because of Quinn ), but rather that he's upset Quinn would do that to him although he's been nothing but kind and loving towards him. He'll forgive Quinn one day, but it will take time.

He never really made any close friends back home, since he was sort of a gloomy ass. He won't admit it out loud, but he really hopes that will change.


       

Extra:

♦ Swifts are medium-sized birds - similar to, but a little bigger than swallows. Except when nesting, swifts spend their lives in the air, living on the insects caught in flight; they drink, feed, and often mate and sleep on the wing. No other bird spends as much of its life in flight. ( Isn't that interesting? ) Swifts build their nests out of air-borne material caught in flight.

♦ His ears are pierced ( helix ring in left ear, helix band in right ear ), but parts of his hair conveniently hide them most of the time. He didn't dare pierce them himself, so he went to a pro - but in secret, so he could still be rebelling in a way.

♦ He likes playing around with his hair. Because his hair grows slowly, he can't do much with it yet, but thankfully it's long enough to be tied in a ponytail by now. For special occasions, he wears really cute accessories like colorful hairclips, scrunchies, elastic bands and sometimes even headbands. It's because it spices up his normally plain look and makes him feel like the day is special. ( Which is why it's for special occasions. )

♦ Quinn is not only an ikemen, but also a obocchama, because his all grandparents are important rich people.

♦ His interest in Astrology began from having been born on a Leap Day ( February 29th ).

♦ Quinn is in denial about his sexuality. ( He's in turmoil over being attracted to boys as well. )

♦ He flirts more openly with females. Because of the denial, he's holding himself back - but he can't completely stop himself from flirting with guys, so he will be more subtle about it. He doesn't even acknowledge that he's doing it, it's a subconscious thing for him.

♦ If you want your character to achieve a romantic relationship with him, please be patient with him. Because I don't want to suddenly rush him into anything and thus ignore realistic story-flow, then it would take him some time to accept all that stuff. The process would be sped up by a more proactive partner.

♦ He's already a total dork, but he also has the potential to be a giant nerd. Someone please introduce him to shoujo manga.

For the drawing of Quinn I used a pressure-insensitive tablet, Photoshop CS2 for the sketch, Illustrator CS5 for the base colors, Easy Paint Tool SAI for the lineart, shadows, and highlights; and then Photoshop CS2 again for text and further visual edits.
